Keynote Speaker:  Dan Ruminski,  President, Martison – Nicholls, Inc. and Cleveland History Storyteller

Cleveland’s Great Millionaire’s Row

Dan Ruminski is a lifelong resident of the Cleveland area. He is a graduate of Orange High School as well as John Carroll University receiving a B.A. Degree in Political Science with a minor in Philosophy. After graduating college, Dan served in the Vietnam War. Upon his return from the War, Dan began a teaching and coaching career at Gilmore Academy. He left teaching to purchase his company Martinson-Nicholls, Inc.  As President of Martinson-Nicholls, Inc., for the last 25 years, Dan has taken the company from a small local player to a much larger  international force in the area of floor matting and pressure sensitive anti-slip tapes.  Working niche markets and inventing solutions for customer problems has caused sales to grow over 500% in 25 years.

The Cleveland Storyteller began in April of 2008 at Gates Mills Library. Forty people were expected and over 100 attended. Motivated by his passion and the response he is experiencing to his talks, Dan continues to research Cleveland history, specifically the families of Millionaire’s Row and their contribution to Cleveland’s greatness during the years 1875-1929. Join us on October 15 to hear a marvelous story about the “Row” and the day-to-day lifestyles, fortunes and tragedies of its families.

September 25, 2019: Chapter Meeting at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame

Keynote Presentation

Keynote Speaker:  Tim Offtermatt, VP of Finance, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

ADD EVENT TO CALENDAR

Tim Offtermatt, the Vice President of Finance of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, will discuss his background in investment banking and involvement with a number of local high profile projects, including First Energy Stadium, Progressive Field, Quicken Loans Arena, Huntington Convention Center of Cleveland and the Hilton Cleveland Downtown and how and why he chose to join the Rock Hall leadership team. Tim will provide an overview of the financials of the Rock Hall currently (their sources of funding and how it is spent) and how this will change with the $30 to $35 million expansion approved by Cleveland City Council in April.

Mr. Offtermatt will provide some details of the initial plans for this expansion, which involves the Rock Hall using the acreage that sits between its building and the Great Lakes Science Center – two of the finest selling points Cleveland has – to increase its exhibition and display and entertainment space by 50,000 square feet. The expansion will also add more room for the organization’s education programs and provide more than a physical connection to the Science Center (programming involving the science behind the music). The Rock Hall’s budget for education programs for 2019 is 55 percent greater than it was in 2018. He’ll discuss what they had to do to secure land, the fundraising campaign and the timeline and estimated costs for this project, as well as its expected economic benefit to Northeast Ohio. Cleveland’s Planning Director Freddy Collier has praised the Rock Hall for enabling an expansion that would preserve public space around the harbor.

August 27, 2019: Professional Development Breakfast Meeting

Professional Development Session
Presented by KPMG

Topic:  “Treasury – Meeting Today’s Demands and Evolving for the Future”

A corporate treasury group’s primary focus is managing a firm’s liquidity and mitigating operational and financial risk.  Those responsibilities don’t stop at the day-to-day and Treasury should be a key participant during significant transactions.  In many transactions, Treasury is often overlooked during the due diligence process, yet in almost all transactions it is one of the first corporate functions to be stood-up.  In this session we will look at the risk and considerations of Treasury starting with the due diligence process through successful integration and separation activities.   In addition, we will explore various treasury models and consider how emerging technologies, including the current intelligent automation landscape, can help enhance your finance operations.
